Petition of Legal Voters of [YOUR TOWN] to the Selectboard

The undersigned registered voters of the Town of [Town Name] hereby petition the Selectboard to add the following advisory only article to the Town Meeting Warning, to be acted upon at the Annual Town Meeting on [Date of Town’s Town Meeting], 2027:

Shall the Town of [Town Name] advise the Selectboard to send the following message to our state legislators:

We urge the Vermont Legislature to fulfill the vision established in Act 48 of 2011: that the state provide “affordable, high-quality, publicly financed healthcare coverage for all Vermont residents in a seamless manner regardless of income.”

We can’t afford to wait any longer. Vermont must establish an equitable, publicly funded universal healthcare system that guarantees every resident the care they need, without copays, deductibles, or other financial barriers. A universal healthcare system built on fair taxation will reduce cost burdens for low- and middle-income residents, support healthcare providers, and improve public health outcomes.
